    What we Do

WHAT IS STARTUP FUNDING VEHICLES (SFV)?

SFV is an initiative mobilizing local Angel Investors to fund /invest in Ugandan startups. It’s a collaborative platform bringing together individuals, industry, academia, and government to unlock capital for innovation, job creation, and economic growth.

UMI, AFBAN and Makerere University Partnered with TechBuzz Hub’s SFV to Empower, Promote and Strengthen Local Investors in Uganda’s Startup Ecosystem

The startup Funding Vehicles (SFV) Initiative dares to minimize Uganda’s reliance on foreign Aid. The SFV championed by TechBuzz Hub, a Ugandan innovation hub is an open ecosystem project aimed at empowering, raising awareness, and advocating for a strong local investor network through conducting webinars whose objective is to equip investors with knowledge from industry experts in venture capital financing, angel investment, blended financing and impact investment all over the world.

SFV also seeks to empower entrepreneurs and investors through educational webinars, innovative financing mechanisms and networking for a sustainable investor ecosystem

SFV Investor Knowledge & Learning Series

Knowledge is the fountain of every investment decision. Strive to gain the knowledge

Entrepreneurs frequently encounter obstacles in product development, customer acquisition, team-building, and, most importantly, securing funding. Many startups fail due to the lack of local investors.

Access to finance has remained a significant challenge over the years, in 2022, 60% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Uganda still struggle to secure funding. Uganda’s startups struggle due to weak local investment, with 53.8% in 2025 citing funding challenges. Meanwhile, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt thrive with strong investor networks and startup policies, highlighting Uganda’s need for local investment growth as well as startup policies.

In 2015, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) ranked Uganda as the world’s most entrepreneurial country, despite the dissimilarity of the GEM research, the ranking reflects Uganda’s startup potential. However, learning that finance is a major constraint, startups must understand investor expectations and the critical challenges of securing private capital.
