ROSE WINGABIYE’S EXPERIENCE
I travelled from home and later walked into TechBuzz Hub for my first day under the Graduate Program Apprenticeship Program (GPAP) in Ntinda a Kampala Suburb in Uganda, as someone aspiring to be a Human Resource trainee, I was expectant to being oriented about the program fully to know if it was meeting my expectations.
The day commenced with arrival, registration and submission of the required documents from the trainee, including the IDs, recommendation letters and proof of facilitation payments. This initial process immediately reflected professionalism, order, accountability and compliance values of Human Resource practice. Observing how registration and verification were conducted reinforced my understanding of and trust towards the TechBuzz Hub company. These are the few key details of onboarding processes that sets the urge and mindset for a new employee or trainee’s entire experience.
After submitting the above requirements, I had breakfast with the team, later after the break, we led to the introduction session which allowed both the TechBuzz Hub team and trainees to present themselves. Sharing your name, educational background, place of residence, area of interest in GPAP, and expectations. These gave me an opportunity to practice professional self-presentation. Listening to others also highlighted the diversity of backgrounds and ambitions within the cohort.
The welcome remarks from the TechBuzz Hub leadership were resourceful and each speaker shared insights on professionalism, discipline, growth, and responsibility. As an aspiring HR trainee, I observed how communication shapes organizational culture. In their words they both welcomed us and clearly communicated expectations, values, and the purpose of the program which is an essential HR responsibility.
The presentation about TechBuzz Hub clearly highlighted the company’s mission, vision and values structure, and impact. Among other sessions which were handled that day included the purpose of the Graduate Professionals Apprenticeships Program (GPAP) to the young trainees, and career changers like me focusing on attaining practical skills for every career training. This session met my expectations and strengthened my trust to continue with the program.
After lunch, the detailed presentation about GPAP from the TechBuzz Hub team from different departments of Accounting, software engineering, Digital marketing and proposal writing showcased and clarified the purpose of the program, expectations, learning pathways, and professional conduct required of trainees. As a trainee focusing on HR perspective, this session reflected effective orientation and induction practices ensuring that trainees clearly understand their roles, responsibilities, and development opportunities.
The final session on the facility tour was motivational and inspirational relating to the real work ethics, attitude and resilience at innovations and work places. Though Documentations, signing of the KYCs, JDs, and NDAs, was supposed to be part of the final sessions, the activity was postponed for the following day since it was getting too late. After the whole orientation session, I felt confident that I was in the right place to continue with my further trainings. In conclusion, I can confidently say my first day at Techbuzz Hub wasn’t just a usual orientation but rather a career experience its self.
