I arrived at the office at 8:00am, where I was welcomed by Roy, an Accountant at the organization. She took me through the signing of the KYC and handed me a receipt as proof of facilitation payment. Later on,  I was introduced to the onboarding process after having a nice breakfast treat. The atmosphere was professional, calm and welcoming.

I met with some of the members of the company, including Mr. Kenneth (CEO), Madam Roy (Accountant), Madam Celine (HR Trainee), Mr. Alinda (IT Department), Mr. Epaphroditus (IT Department), Mrs. Grace (Proposal writing), Madam Juliet (Accounting Trainee), Madam Sylvia (HR Department), Everyone was friendly and offered assistance in helping me adjust. I was shown around the workspace and explained to the meaning of the different art crafts around the area and what they represent in depth.

Each team member shared their experiences at the organization, along with the lessons they have learned and the key take away from their journey so far. As part of the onboarding activities, I was taken through a detailed presentation about Tech Buzz Hub. The session, led by Madam Celine and Mr Kenneth, provided an informative overview of the company’s background, mission and the role it plays within Uganda’s innovation ecosystem.

I learned that Tech Buzz Hub is deeply committed to nurturing innovation and empowering young entrepreneurs. We also explored the organization structure and current projects underway. This helped me gain a clearer understanding of where my role fits within the broader mission of the company. I found the session both engaging and motivating and it gave me a strong sense of purpose and belonging from the very beginning. By 1pm, the session was done and we broke off for lunch.

The session provided an in-depth overview of the program’s purpose, structure and intended impact on young professionals. The facilitator explained that the GPAP program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical work experience by equipping graduates with hands-on-skills, mentorship and real world exposure. It was encouraging to learn that the program not only focuses on technical development but also emphasizes soft skills, professional growth, and entrepreneurial thinking.

I received a presentation detailing my Job description, which helped me gain a clear understanding of my roles, responsibilities and expected deliverables. The session was facilitated by Mr Opio and Mrs Sylvia, who walked me through the key functions of my position as well as the performance indicators aligned with each task. Following this, I was guided on how to develop a personal work plan. I began drafting a structured plan outlining my weekly tasks, which will serve as a road map for my first few weeks. This process not only helped clarify expectations but also gave me the opportunity to reflect on how I can add value to the team in a focused and measurable way.

Overall, my first day at Tech Buzz hub was positive and informative. I look forward to becoming a productive member of the team and contributing to the success of the department.
